The spiritual master is one who stands in representing the consciousness of loving. As we seek that consciousness in the world through a direct relationship, often we are looking for what we would call a true love. We want to find somebody we can truly love, where the fullness and the power of our own loving can be entirely opened and revealed to us. We want to find someone who has the consciousness to fully accept and love who we are and then return that loving in the fullness of who they are. As we realize this consciousness, we come to a place of knowing that it is
beyond a personality, and we start seeking it in someone who has that wisdom as a direct experience. – John Morton

A spiritual master once said tome,’’Do you remember the part of the great misunderstood book, the Holy Bible, which says, ‘Take off your shoes because you stand on Holy ground’?” I said, “Oh yes, I recall this from early religiousteachings. Do you think that passage means the particular mountainside where they stood was Holy ground?” He said, “Anywhere a man stands is Holy ground if he knows and can recognize his inner spiritual awareness. If he can be aware of the Christ action and the Holy Spirit within himself, he is indeed walking on Holy ground.” When I thought about this, it made much more sense to me than to think just one spot was Holy ground and everything else was barren and unfruitful. I went back and checked the Bible and found it really didn’t refer
to one particular place as Holy ground, but that wherever spiritual men are, individually or collectively, is Holy ground.
What is a spiritual man or a spiritual woman? What should a person be doing who is manifesting Spirit? A few thousand years ago, Jesus walked on the water, and this was considered to be a spiritual action. However, if someone today were to walk on the water, people might clap and ask where the rocks were. Or they might check for the wires supporting him or say it wasn’t really deep water and just looked deep. Or they might say the illusion was caused by mass hypnosis because everyone knows you can’t walk on water. At times, ancient masters ascended and descended on pillars of fire and Light. If this were to happen now, people would probably clap and say, “That’s a pretty good trick; what can you do for an encore?” Yet at that time, those things were recognized as having high spiritual attributes. And was it true? It was phenomena; that’s for sure.
